Publishing Ethics Statement

The Journal of Multidisciplinary Engineering Research (JMER) is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and research integrity. The journal expects all authors, editors, reviewers, and other contributors to uphold responsible and transparent practices throughout the publication process.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original and accurately represent their research. Authors are expected to:

  • Present their research findings honestly and accurately.
  • Provide appropriate citations and acknowledge the contributions of other researchers.
  • Avoid plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and other forms of research misconduct.
  • Ensure that the manuscript is not simultaneously submitted to another journal.
  • Disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Obtain appropriate permission for the use of copyrighted materials.
  • Ensure that all listed authors have made significant contributions to the work.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

The Editorial Board is responsible for maintaining the academic and ethical standards of JMER.

Editors shall:

  • Evaluate manuscripts based on their scholarly quality, relevance, originality, and contribution to the field.
  • Maintain confidentiality during the editorial and review process.
  • Select appropriate and qualified reviewers.
  • Make editorial decisions independently and fairly.
  • Avoid discrimination based on an author's gender, nationality, institutional affiliation, religion, ethnicity, or other personal characteristics.
  • Investigate credible allegations of publication misconduct.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers play an important role in maintaining the quality of published research. Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding manuscripts under review.
  • Identify relevant published work that has not been appropriately cited.
  • Inform the editor of any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, or other ethical concerns.
  • Declare any potential conflict of interest before accepting a review assignment.
  • Not use unpublished information obtained through peer review for personal advantage.

4. Peer Review Integrity

JMER uses a structured peer-review process to assess submitted manuscripts. Manuscripts are evaluated by reviewers with relevant expertise, and editorial decisions are based on the quality, originality, relevance, and scientific or technical contribution of the work.

The identities of reviewers and authors shall be handled in accordance with the journal's applicable peer-review procedures.

5. Conflicts of Interest

Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any financial, professional, personal, or other relationships that could influence the objectivity of the publication or review process.

Where a significant conflict of interest exists, the individual concerned may be excluded from the relevant editorial or review decision.

6. Research Misconduct

JMER does not tolerate:

  • Plagiarism.
  • Fabrication of research data.
  • Falsification or manipulation of results.
  • Duplicate or redundant publication.
  • Improper attribution of authorship.
  • Manipulation of citations.
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest.
  • Other forms of academic or publication misconduct.

Where misconduct is suspected, the journal may investigate the matter and take appropriate action.

7. Corrections and Retractions

JMER is committed to maintaining an accurate scholarly record. Where significant errors or misconduct are identified after publication, the journal may issue a correction, clarification, editorial notice, or retraction as appropriate.

The journal may also contact the authors' institutions or other relevant authorities where necessary.

8. Artificial Intelligence

Authors who use artificial intelligence tools during manuscript preparation remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and proper attribution of their work.

AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authors should disclose significant use of AI tools where required by the journal's Generative AI Policy.

9. Commitment to Ethical Publishing

JMER is committed to promoting transparency, originality, fairness, accountability, and responsible scholarly communication.

All participants in the publication process are expected to uphold these principles and contribute to maintaining the integrity and credibility of the journal.
